The Congress
The International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO), which was founded in 1958, is a nongovernmental federation of 42 Member Organizations, each of which is concerned with the advancement of measurement technology. Th e objectives of the Member Organizations are being promoted by IMEKO’s 24 Technical Committees (https://www.imeko.org).
The IMEKO World Congress is an international conference with a focus on measurement technology that takes place every three years in a diff erent country. The international participants of the Congress come from the fields of metrology, economics and politics.
Under the motto of Th ink Metrology!, the 24th IMEKO World Congress will shed light on both well- established and new, highly current topics. The high-quality program will involve teams of experts, high-ranking speakers and more than 700 internationally leading metrologists who will provide insight into the diverse and innovative fi elds of metrology.
The Location
Measurement has always played a pivotal role in the city of Hamburg’s development. Where generations of merchants and tradesmen once weighed spices from across the globe in ounces, those working in today’s shipping industry now weigh containers in megatons.
As a gateway to the world and with a history of more than 1400 years, Hamburg off ers the perfect setting for this congress. Over the centuries, trade and innovation have been instrumental in the growth and development of the city, which is now the second-largest in Germany. Th is and the over 20,000 researchers and university students at numerous renowned institutions make Hamburg the perfect location for science and research.
